On the Van

earlier this afternoon, I was reading a magazine when Mommy came and told me to go get my camera and take pictures of Samuel on top of the van!!

In the dark

A few days ago, around 4:00 in the afternoon, our power went off. Mommy had been in the dining room sewing, Anna and Esther were coloring, and I was listening to music when we heard a...well.. it kind of sounded like thunder. what had happened was that some kind of cable had exploded under the ground, or something like that. Since we couldn't cook anything, we went to Chick-fila ( one of our family's favorite restaurants). after everyone had finished eating they went to go play in the playroom. Well, this man came in with two children that looked like they were about four or five and sat down at a table next to the playroom door. Lydia walked past them when she was going into the playroom, and after she had gone in, the little boy said to his daddy "daddy, she's a robot!" . We thought it was SO funny! Later, when I was taking Lydia to the bathroom, the Dad had a "meeting" with his kids. Daddy and Mommy couldn't hear what he was saying but they guessed it had something to do with what the boy said :) . After we got home it was bed time, so every body went to bed. I stayed up for awhile though till it was my bedtime then I started getting ready to go to bed. But just when I had gotten in bed, the power came back on! I guess it probably came on everywhere else too ( we weren't the only ones without power) .

A Birthday!

Jacob turned three!! I took tons of pictures, but some of them are probably not very good since he wouldn't stay still ( I don't like using the flash so I turn it off ) . Jacob had THREE birthday cakes!!! The first one was for family that was coming over, the second one was because I had left over icing and we had half a cake mix, and the third one was for us, and since Jacob's Birth Mom and her husband came over, it was for them too . This happened over two days though, so we didn't have them all at one whack :). Jacob really enjoyed his birthday. It was funny though, I kept hearing him sing Happy Birthday to himself! Daddy has recently started reading the Bible to us every night ( I'm so glad!) and we just finished Genesis! It was very interesting to see who was related to who, and Daddy pointed out how, for example: Abraham had Isaac and Ishmael. Isaac's descendants became the Israelites, Ishmael's descendants became the Arabs. Jacob married from their people, and Esau married foreign women. Some of their own left, but their was always a remnant remaining. Tonight we read the first chapter in Exodus, and it was very interesting :) . here's a quote from the introduction to Exodus in my Bible: " "Exodus" is a Latin word derived from Greek Exodos, the name given to the book by those who translated it into Greek. The word means "exit" "departure". " I'll keep y'all posted on our progress :) .

A friend of ours recently went to Guatemala for a week on a mission trip, and got to take care of babies:) ( unfortunately I don't Know a lot of details). She brought back presents for all of us. Lydia got a lot sense her birth parents were originally from Guatemala.

Swimming!

Jacob, Samuel, Anna, Esther and I got to go swimming for the first time this year yesterday! Samuel was nervous about getting in, but after awhile he loosened up some ( I don't think he ever left the donut he's on in the pictures though). Lydia couldn't go swimming though because she's sick :( .
